Hi List,

i have here a mysterious VisionPlus from Twinhand in the usb-version. It
has the same tuning-problem like the
PCI version which is described here:

http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2005-May/001802.html

The device looks like the magicbox from here:
http://www.twinhan.com/product_terrestrial_5.asp
But under the label "magicbox" (a sticker) i can read VisionPlus.

Usbview identify the device as VP7041:

The firmware file is 'dvb-usb-dibusb-5.0.0.11.fw', the correct one for
the MagicBox1. but the line identify my device as 'Cypress AN2135'?

If i try the scan the frequenzy the "scan" program from dvb-apps returns:

on every transponder.

The same happends with kaffeine scanfunction.

If i try the device under win2k with the same antenna it receive 21
channels, so the antenna is not the problem.

Can anyone help here?

Hi List,
i have here a mysterious VisionPlus from Twinhand in the usb-version.
It has the same tuning-problem like the
http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2005-May/001802.html
This bug existed due to a wrong frequency setting for the *DVB-C* *PCI*
cards only.
This bug has been fixed in the latest CVS for people bitten by the bug.
Thanks to Peng Cao for pointing it out.

Okay, it is not the same bug ;-), but what is the problem with my device?

Martin,
I am not the author of the usb version of the driver. In fact Ralph Metzler
and Patrick Boetcher had put in efforts in that direction.
I think probably the device is having timeouts. but that is too wild a guess,
but my guess was based upon the dst core, which exists in either case.
Manu, the MagicBox1 and the MagicBox2/Alpha from Twinhan are not equipped
with the DST-core. The only USB device using the DST I know of is the
v7021 (DVB-S) aka StarBox. The MagicBox1 is a clone of the first
USB1.1-device developped by DiBcom. The MagicBox2/Alpha is a complete
different designed (I think, but I'm not sure, that Twinhan designed it,
too).

Martin, the MagicBox1 has very poor reception quality. Please make sure
that you have a good signal with your antenna position. Can you please run
femon while trying to scan? Does syslog says something weird about the
device? Can you check reception with another DVB-T card/box?

I recently had the chance to test the very first dibusb DVB-T USB device
(vp7041, grey box) with recent drivers and it was working surprisingly
well.

regards,
Patrick.

When i run the windows dvb-application with the same antenna on the same
positition the device received 20 stations without problems, so i think
this is not
an antenna problem. Has you read my first mail to this list (6.9.05:
12:13MEZ) ? There i write all information about the log. Are you still
need the femon information? Then i will collect them!

I don“ t own an another dvb-t receiver, so i can only test with the
windows dvb-application.

This is not the grey box design, it has the black box design with the
label "VisionPlus". Usbview (written in my first mail) identify the
device as vp7041.

Thanks for your help!
